As a Business of Design Certified Professional, I follow a 15 Step Project Management Strategy that allows your project to stick to timelines and budget. Whether it’s one room you want redecorated, or remodeling all or parts of your home, or building new, this process still applies. Interior Design is exciting and collaborative, and I will share a little bit about that here.
Once the consultation is complete, and a scope of work is made, contract signed and retainer paid, I begin site documentation. A site measure, and photo documentation is taken in detail to capture every inch of the space I’m working on. Once I have that, I can begin on architectural drawings. Floor Plans, Sections, 3D Perspectives, Elevations etc. are created at this time. Depending on each project, additional drawings such as lighting design, or custom millwork and furniture designs may be required. My drawings are highly detailed and thoughtful, saving time and money by avoiding the need for decisions and changes down the road.
These drawings are reviewed with appropriate trades for quoting. Trades will also visit the site with me in one day to discuss the plans in further detail for quoting.
All materials, fixtures, finishes, furnishings, and large decor items are sourced at this time. Basically the entire design down to every detail, so you know exactly how much everything will cost up front, before any construction or purchasing happens. Knowing costs up front allows me to make any changes to meet your budget before construction begins.
This is the bulk of my work as an interior designer, as a result it takes time. Everything is presented to you once finalized, and on budget. Once you sign off and pay deposits, the construction and project management phase begins!
